Hey there, am doing bank builds via CLI with the following command:

`/Applications/FMOD Studio.app/Contents/MacOS/fmodstudio' -build FMod/<PROJECTNAME>.fspro` and if the machine is locked (which it normally is while running jenkins) the project doesn’t complete loading.
I have a FMOD studio log (which I can’t yet attach), and there is a large time gap between the following lines:

```-
- 2025-05-06 20:17:56 [Total Load FMod/<PROJECTNAME>.fspro 0x0000000142e7ffa0]: Time started
- 2025-05-06 20:31:20 [Opening FMod/<PROJECTNAME>.fspro 0x0000000142e7ffa0]: Time started
- 2025-05-06 20:31:20 [Create mappers]: Time started
```

(the project is extremely small, and the timestamps match up exactly with when I ran a remote desktop session and logged in)

In addition the jenkins logs for the bank build is as follows:

````auto
While I could check in the built banks and avoid this step, i'd rather not have derived files in the repo if I can avoid it!
Hi,
Thank you for the information and the logs.
Using 2.02.29 and this build step:
```auto
echo "Build Studio Project"
'/Applications/FMOD Studio 2.02.25.app/Contents/MacOS/fmodstudio' -build '/Users/admin/Library/Application Support/FMOD Studio/2.02.25/Examples/Examples.fspro'
echo "Finished Building"

```
I was not able to reproduce the issue.
Could I please grab your FMOD versions and your build step?
I’m using fmod studio 2.03.07 build 150747 (macos)
So: it’s a problem with command line builds in general taking a long time.
In both cases i have removed the `.cache`, `.user`, `.recycle` and `Build` folders prior to building.
Using the GUI takes ~1 Minute from opening until build complete (see below)
[GUIBuild.txt](https://qa.fmod.com/uploads/short-url/sJyq9ddUIEV6Fn5ZcMr0IgMTyPt.txt) (55.8 KB)
Using the CLI the build takes 40 minutes to complete
[CLIBuild.txt](https://qa.fmod.com/uploads/short-url/430wEPcABECz8D51XlLvR8NqM4Q.txt) (40.1 KB)
(both of these were done on the same system)
Thank you for the information.
I have been able to reproduce the issue, I will pass it onto our development team to investigate further. Unfortunately I don’t have a workaround at this time.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
ooof.. I just had this building for ~12 hours and it never finished - so in some cases it’s not just slow, it never finishes. I’ve attached the log
Hi, this is also impacting us, I wanted to add a bit more information.
The `fmodstudio -build` command hangs on mac even in a regular (non-headless) setup, until the FMOD dock icon is clicked.
This error is reported periodically while it’s hanging:
`/opt/teamcity-agent/work/32de17c14a8f30d0/fsbank_api/src/fsbank_file_disk.cpp(26) : FSBank error (7) : An operating system based file error was encountered.`
I was able to add a workaround to our build by running `open -a "FMOD Studio"` while FMOD is hanging; i.e., our build process now runs this before building banks:
```auto
Task.Run(async () =>
{
    await Task.Delay(1000);
    ProcessExtensions.Run("open", "-a \"FMOD Studio\"");
});

```
I wonder if i can somehow trigger that from Jenkins build scripts (even if we’re not logged in…)
I really need a solve for this, because it’s actively blocking us from using FMod in our main game
Another small update after running this on the build servers for a week: we found that sometimes a second instance of FMOD was running, and stuck on the welcome screen. This prevented the `open -a`trick from working, as it was activating the wrong process. I’m not sure where this second FMOD instance is being started from, but we worked around the issue by running a `killall fmodstudio` before running the batch process.
With these two workarounds we have reliable FMOD batch builds running on our mac CI now. FMOD engineers should be able to fix the issue more robustly for everyone by either running the batch process before entering the GUI loop (i.e., in main() instead of NSApplicationDelegate), or building a separate console-only target to host the batch builds.
I just noticed that `fmodstudiocl` exists in the mac package as of 2.03.13 and decided to try that. Inside a jenkins build it doesn’t work, generating the following errors:
```auto
'/Applications/FMOD Studio.app/Contents/MacOS/fmodstudiocl' -build <PROJECT>/<PROJECT>.fspro
14:48:35 The files /Users/<USER>/jenkins-windows/workspace/<PROJECT>-Debug/a, /Users/darkdarkgoose/jenkins-windows/workspace/<PROJECT>-Debug/tty, /Users/<USER>/jenkins-windows/workspace/<PROJECT>-Debug/a, and /Users/<USER>/jenkins-windows/workspace/<PROJECT>-Debug/tty do not exist.

```
I’m not sure why it’d need to access those non-existant files. I can increase the verbosity (alternately maybe `fmodstudiocl` isn’t working on macOS yet?)
