# Error dialog : "The Opus compression format cannot be auditioned within the tool."

Hello!
I’m trying to encode my audios into Opus on Windows PC within the studio;
I created a custom platform so that I could make “Opus” a choice in “Encoding Format”.
And when I select Opus and tick “Compress” at the left-bottom audio setting view I got an error tips “Failed to load file” and an error dialog when clicking the audio part : “Failed to Compress: The Opus compression format cannot be auditioned within the tool”.
It’s quite confusing for me. It looks like FMOD has supported Opus already but couldn’t preview the “compressed data” in studio. Could somebody help me to explain what’s going on here plz? thx alot

While FMOD Studio can encode assets to Opus when building banks, decoding/playback is currently limited to platforms that support hardware-based decoding of the format, meaning means assets compressed to Opus cannot be auditioned in Studio. I’ve noted your interest in being able to do this on our internal feature/improvement tracker.
