# \*failed to encode bank “Master” due to the following error: An invalid parameter has been passed to this function\*

I have been sent an FMOD project for my university assignment. When I open FMOD and press build I receive this error:

_failed to encode bank “Master” due to the following error: An invalid parameter has been passed to this function_. (Please see screenshot)\*

I have asked the module leader for this module at Uni but he doesn’t know the answer, hence why I am asking here.

Hi,

Could I please grab your FMOD version number? Would it be possible to check if the location you’re trying to save or build the project to/from has write permissions and if the location isn’t subject to source control or synchronized to a cloud-based file upload service such as Dropbox? Also, you could check this link similar to your issue ([Bank Building - Parameter Error](https://qa.fmod.com/t/bank-building-parameter-error/17356)) to see if it helps. Please let me know if the issue persists.
