# FMOD Studio 2.03.14 Not Validating Properly in UE 5.8.2

Hi, I’m setting up FMOD Studio 2.03.14 with UE 5.8.2 and I’m running into issues with validation. I went through a normal install:  
The plugins were added to the projects plugin folder, and then when opening Unreal we get a warning about “copying bank files to staging correctly” in the Project Settings. I press fix and it changes to green saying “FMOD Settings are valid, run the Validate FMOD command to perform additional checking.” I created an FMOD project in the Unreal project folder and set the built bank output directory to **../Content/FMOD**.

I Build banks and they show up in the UE content browser as expected, but when I go to validate FMOD in UE I get this warning: “FMODStudio does not appear to be running. Only some validation will occur. Do you want to continue anyway?” If I select YES then I get a message “Failed toload banks” followed by “Finished validation”

If I start PIE and turn live update on it appears to connect.

We tried recompiling following the steps found here [FMOD - User Guide (compiling the plugin optional)](https://fmod.com/docs/2.03/unreal/user-guide.html#compiling-the-plugin-optional) No luck.

Is this a known issue or do you have any ideas on how we can fix it? Thanks!
