# How to create a fsb3 file?

Dear FMOD Team,

My name is Aaron, and I’m currently working on a project that requires using audio files in the **FSB3** format, compatible with an older version of your FMOD audio engine (FMOD Ex).

I am reaching out to ask how I can **create an FSB file in FSB3 format** , since the current version of FSBank Studio only appears to generate **FSB5** files, which are not supported by the game or engine I am using.

Specifically, I would like to know:

- Which version of FMOD or FSBank allows generating FSB3 files?
- What audio formats are best suited or compatible with FSB3 (e.g., PCM, ADPCM, MP3)?
- Are there any tools or alternative workflows currently available for creating FSB3 soundbanks?

I understand that FSB3 is an outdated format, but for compatibility reasons, this information is essential for my work.

What version of FMOD is your project using?

I’m using FMOD Studio (the latest version), but I can only create .bank files. If previous versions of FMOD, like FMOD Designer, can create .fsb3 files, can I have access? Can you provide me with previous versions that can generate this type of file? I look forward to your response. Thank you very much for your help.

edit: I need specifically fsb3 files version 3.1, thanks
