Hi, i was doing the certification course 1 and had a problem understanding min and max distance. My problem was that when i put min and max distance in the same number, the sound volume is the same all over the room.
The other problem is that, even though the “max distance” setting modifies the blue area, I can still hear the sound outside that area; furthermore, the sound doesn’t change when I approach the blue area—only when I approach the orange one.

This was confusing for me, because based on the course, I understood “Max distance” to be the furthest point where the sound can be heard and adjust that, and “Min distance” to be the area where it is loudest and plays through both speakers.

Hi there!

So by putting the min and max values as the same number, you are effectively turning off the attenuation (the curve between min volume and max volume as you approach the yellow sphere) so we would need there to be some difference between these. This is why you’re hearing the sound the same whilst inside the max distance value (blue sphere) you’ve set. You’ll notice that the spatializer shows no curve as a result:

Unfortunately i haven’t been able to recreate the issue with hearing the orb outside of the max distance value (blue sphere). However, just to clarify, you should only _start_ to hear the sound at the blue sphere, and then hear the volume increase as you approach the yellow sphere. Inside of the yellow sphere the volume will be at its max value.

To help with this room, you could perhaps record a quick profiler session whilst in there, locate the “energy” event, and solo this in the profiler recording to _only_ hear this event.

Your final sentence defining both the min and max value sounds correct! I’m hoping that the profiler technique above will help you understand the room more clearly.

Hope this helps!
