In FMOD, in the steam audio spatialization, I’m starting with the directivity setting.

I’m live updating with unity while driving and listening to the car engine, which sounds amazing.

But, when the car is facing sideways to the camera, the volume cuts out.

I’ve assumed it is because the “figure 8” in the directivity diagram has a 0 volume point in the middle. Which also means there is no volume in FMOD when the audio is sitting dead centre.

I’ve turned the “weight” knob down to create a circle, but that takes away a lot of the awesome spacial quality that I love.

How do I keep that figure 8 type of spacial quality, without having a 0 volume point when facing side on to the camera?

Hi,

You can automate the Directivity using the built-in Direction parameter.
Right-click on the Weight property will bring up the `Add Automation` option:

This will display the Automation window at the end of the effect:

Select `Add Curve->Browse->New Parameter` and choose the built in Direction parameter.
A curve that I found sounds best looks like this:

You can set up the curve however you feel sounds the best for your situation.

Hope this helps!
