Recently, I’ve been seeing this error every hour or so that I’m working in the FMOD project. I try to build my bank – currently just a Master bank, and only for desktop – but I am not able to. If I close FMOD Studio, I’m not able to reopen it before finding and force closing an FMOD background process which keeps running. Then if I reopen FMOD studio, it works again as expected and I can build the ban, although this problem will pop up again later on with no obvious trigger.
Live Update also only seems to work once after opening FMOD, and then it stops working, requiring me to close and reopen FMOD studio.
If I try to validate FMOD from in UE5, I get this popup:
Some banks failed to load:
Master (Error loading file.)
Any idea what it is?
Using FMOD version 2.03.06, and UE5.5.3.
We are currently investigating a bug with bank building while connected to Live Update, which I suspect these issues are related to. The only repro we’ve found so far is when building banks while Live Update is connected, but we haven’t been able to reproduce any of the Live Update connectivity issues you’ve mentioned.
Next time you encounter this issue, can you please tell me whether Live Update was connected at the time?
We should have a fix for the bank building issue in the next version of FMOD, and hopefully that will also solve the Live Update issues. In the meantime, this issue doesn’t appear to affect FMOD Studio 2.03.02- can you please try running that version and let me know if any similar issues occur after an hour or so?
Thanks for the response - glad to hear it’s not me!
I’m up against some big deadlines right now, but I’ll do so if I get the chance soon. I can confirm though that before switching to .06, I haven’t had these problems in the last year or so, and I have used versions .03 and .01 so far on my current project.

I have also noticed that using this version of FMOD, live update rarely works anyway. The mixer view shows the correct meters showing signal, but changing any values is not reflected in the game. Perhaps they are for the first few seconds after opening FMOD and starting a live update session, but very soon it just stops working, requiring me to close and reopen FMOD.
Does this sound like it could be connected?

I have since reproduced some connectivity issues after getting into that bad state after building banks with Live Update connected. I am not sure what the other repro paths are to get into that bad state, but the paths I am finding appear to be due to this bank building issue, so I think it is related- especially if Live Update is working finer in 2.03.02.
I could potentially get you a pre-release build once the fix is in and you can see if you still get Live Update issues? I know you’ve got deadlines so no pressure of course.
Ok, good to hear. I’m interested - when would it likely be available? If it’s just a case of changing FMOD minor version, it’d hopefully save me a load of time in the next couple weeks before a deadline.
Thanks for the support.
I’m hoping the fix will be checked in within the next week or so, otherwise I have had some other users who have reported similar issues confirm that 2.03.02 is far more reliable, in case if you haven’t already tried with 2.03.02.
