Auto pitch question.. Can't pitch upward from original root

Quick question… with the autopitch… I want the original/root pitch at parameter 0, then I want to pitch up from there, but I can’t get it to do that. The only way I can get autopitch to work, is starting with it pitched down, then heading back up to the root… How do I start with the original/root pitch at 0, then pitch it up from there…
