Fade Curve type toggling

Not so much a question as a surprising observation that I thought other FMOD Studio users might like to know about because from my perspective it’s completely hidden functionality.

Double-clicking on the control point of a fade curve will change it from blending between ease-in / linear / ease-out curves to an ease-in / ease-out curve with two control points.

This functionality is hinted at in the documentation with images like this:

But I could not find this mentioned anywhere, not even the Fade In and Fade Out section of Working With Instruments: https://www.fmod.com/docs/2.03/studio/working-with-instruments.html#fade-in-and-fade-out

And it’s not in the right-click context menu either:

I have long thought that these types of fades simply weren’t available. Might be nice to surface that functionality a bit better?

You’re right, this doesn’t appear to be covered anywhere in our documentation. That’s an oversight; the method for switching fade curve types should be described in both the Fade In and Fade Out section of the Working with Instruments chapter and the various sections describing fade curve controls in the Instrument Reference chapter.

I’ll add the documentation improvements to our feature and improvement tracker, along with your suggestion that we make the feature more discoverable by putting it in the context menu. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

Incidentally, double-clicking on the diamond handle to toggle between curve shapes also works for automation curve segments. I’ll make to add that to our documetation, too.
