FMOD crashes / freezes when opening the Audio Bin

Hi, I just bought a new windows PC with windows 11 and all versions of FMOD 2.03 (no matter which one I install) keep freezing when I try to open the Audio Bin. I’ve tried several versions of FMOD 2.03 and also already tried opening it with only software accelleration and another time with only hardware accelleration - none of it fixed the issue. All other windows work fine, but as soon as I open the audio bin window the whole software freezes. This happens with all my projects and also when I create a new project without any audio files in it.

My graphics card drivers and sound drivers are all up to date, Windows is up to date, I also tried setting UAC to 0 and disabling windows defender. I’ve tried deleting the Windows cache and also deinstalled and deleted all FMOD folders several times and reinstalled it - nothing helped.

The Windows Event Viewer shows that FMOD crashed but does not display any details why.

Please help

I have an AMD 7800X 3D and a Radeon 9060XT.

Hi,

Thank you for sharing the information.

Unfortunately, I was not able to reproduce the issue on my end.

Since you are not seeing the freeze when viewing the Assets Browser inside the Event Editor, one potential difference is that the Audio Bin window can interact with FMOD.io.

Just to confirm, do you have any firewall or anti-malware software that might be interfering with a browser or an application trying to access the internet?

Hi, yeah that is the workaround that I am using right now. Instead of importing audiofiles (which automatically opens the audio bin and thus crashes FMOD) I have to drag an drop the files and then sort them in the Asset Window.

I don’t have any additional firewall or anti-malware software installed and I deactivated the windows defender entirely when trying to fix the issue - and it still happened when all functions were disabled. So this can’t be the root of the problem.

Thanks for sharing the extra info.

Could you please share the log after triggering the freeze/crash? You can find them at C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\FMOD Studio\Logs

If you are using the latest version (2.03.11), you can also open the log folder via:
