Helping the Modding Community

Hi! I know your rules and policies about bank reverse engineering or whatever. Getting .fspro from banks is something impossible. And it’s illegal I guess. Because I think game developers don’t like their assets/music/sounds appearing on illegal sites. I totally understand these rules. But it’s still bad news for people who modded games for good and legal purposes. I want to suggest you one good idea. We know that bank events work with GUIDs. All these GUIDs are in .strings.bank. If you have a project with CORRECT GUIDs (it doesn’t matter if you have audio assets), including main bus/buses GUID, you can add another bank to modify the game. How about adding an option in FMOD Studio like “load bank (events with correct GUIDs, but without sound)”. FMOD Studio will just create the necessary events/snapshots/vca/buses/parameters. These objects will not include settings or audio assets. Just the correct GUIDs and the empty FMOD objects themselves. The potential modder will then add their own events with their own audio and add it all to their new bank. They will then create a project and get the modified .strings.bank and their own bank for their own purposes. I think this is a legitimate option because this way you will not get the audio from the original banks. Also, this will be very good news for bona fide modders and their creators.
