Initial File Format

Hey guys,

I´ve been wondering if the file format of the sounds you import into FMOD Studio has any impact in the memory and space that it will ultimately use?

In the end I´m encoding everything to vorbis, so does it matter if I work with mp3 or wav files inside FMOD?


The source format will have no impact on the output file memory or performance, as you said, it ends up as vorbis.

What does matter though is if you use a lossy format like mp3 and have it reencoded to vorbis , that is a quality issue, it will come out sounding slightly worse than it could have if you just used the original wav.

So it only affects sound quality and not memory used in-game. That´s what I wanted to know, thank you!
