Hi! I want to use the External Sample Editor option, in which I add Reaper.app. I’m using a Mac Monterey…
When I select an audio file in FMOD and select the “Open in External Sample Editor” option, Reaper opens and everything is fine up to this point.
In Reaper, I make changes to the selected audio file in FMOD, but I got to the point where if I save the changes in Reaper, it wants to save the project and not the audio. I found two ways to save the changes: 1) by performing a render and 2) using an Action called “Save item as audio file…”
Is there another way to do this more directly from Reaper?
regards
Hi,
Thank you for sharing the information.
As far as I’m aware, Reaper doesn’t seem to have a built-in “Save directly to source file” option.
The closest workflows appear to be the ones you’ve already found. If you’re looking for an overwrite-on-save style workflow, you might need to use another editor (like Audacity) as FMOD’s external editor instead.

Hi, thanks for your response.
I think I came to the same conclusion as you. So far, I think the best solution is to link the Reaper project and drag it into FMODStudio.
Or work the old-fashioned way, rendering in Reaper and then dragging the audio into Studio.
best regards
