I want to edit the play percentage of sounds in my multi-instrument, and I found that you need to double-click the percentage to set it, but it doesn’t work. It simply does not let me change the play percentage.
Double clicking to rename works, and clicking the triangles on values you can type in works as well, but double clicking on any value to change it does not work.
You have to have set a play percentage by right-clicking and selecting “Set Play Percentage” from the context menu before double-clicking it will work. Once you’ve set a play percentage for an entry, the percentage will appear in black instead of in grey, and you’ll be able to double-click it to edit it.
This behavior is a relic of the days when we only displayed the probabilities of playlist entries that had explicitly set play percentages. Now that we display the probabilities of all playlist entries and not just the ones whose play percentages have been explicitly set, it does seem odd that we only allow you to double-click on some of them. I’ll add a task to our feature and improvement tracker to make all play percentages double-clickable.
That’s strange. When I test here, selecting “Set Play Percentage” works without problems, and after setting it I’m able to edit the play percentage by double-clicking on it.
I must be doing something differently to you. Could you describe in more detail the steps you’re following when it doesn’t work, and what it does instead of work when you double-click on the black probability text?
I select the event
I select the multi-instrument where I want to change the probabilities
I right-click the specific sound that I want to change the probability of
I click “set play percentage”
The probability turns black
I double click the probability (specifically the number)
Nothing happens, it stays black
I have also tried double clicking the name of the sound I want to change the probability of, that yielded the same result for setting the probability, although it does take me to the audio bin and select the sound I double clicked, so it is registering my double click
I have followed this set of steps exactly, and double-clicking on the probability highlighted it and allowed me to type in a new value.
I must be doing something differently to you, but I’m not sure what. Possibly the issue you’re experiencing only affects some versions of FMOD Studio? Which version are you using, and what operating system are you running it on?
Hmm… Testing with that operating system and version here, it seems to work without problems. I must therefore be doing something differently to you, but I don’t know what. Could you perhaps capture a video of the behavior? There must be some reason why it doesn’t work when you try it.
Here’s the video, but there’s not really much to it. When you see the mouse being held still I am double clicking, but other than that it’s exactly as i described above. It does this no matter which Multi Instrument I select, so it’s not limited to this event.
It does properly auto-update the probabilities, but manually setting them just doesn’t work
I’m afraid I still haven’t been able to reproduce this behavior here, no matter what version and operating system I try to reproduce it with. Without the ability to reproduce the issue, I can only guess as to the cause of the bug and what its solution might be.
Have you tried reproducing this issue on a different machine? If it does occur on multiple machines, is there anything those machines have in common? And if it only occurs on some machines but not others, is there anything the machines it occurs on have in common that the machines it doesn’t occur on do not?
