So recently I’m transitioning from Windows to Linux, one of the last thing to confirm that I can fully transition to Linux is to be able to use FMOD Studio. And so I went to download and install FMOD Studio 2.02.05 on my Linux Laptop, and for some reason it won’t start? Like when I click to start the program, nothing happens.
Here’s how I installed the program:
- Install the .deb file using
sudo dpkg -i fmodstudiosomethingsomething.deb
- The terminal shows that I have to install certain packages first, so I did.
- Tried to install .deb file again and now successfully.
- after said issue, I tried to reinstall the program again. But this time using Linux Mint GUI. Ends up with the same issue.
I would be very appreciated to know what part did I went wrong. Thank you in advance.
Hi,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. What version of FMOD Studio are you using?
Do you experience the same issue when trying to launch the .AppImage
? Would it be possible to share the terminal output when trying to install the .deb
? Could I grab the details of the Mint installation you are using?
Thank you for replying.
I’m trying to install FMOD Studio 2.02.05, however the installed version is appeared as 2.02.04 for some reason. Unfortunately the version I wanted to download doesn’t have .AppImage
.
here’s the terminal output:
slavjerry@slavjerry-ThinkPad-T480:~/Downloads$ sudo dpkg -i fmodstudio20205linux64_patch1-installer.deb
[sudo] password for slavjerry:

The Mint GUI installer I used is Gdebi Package Installer.
Thank you for the info.
Would it be possible to try a more recent version of FMOD studio and let me know if the issue continues?
Installed version 2.02.24 and somehow worked perfectly fine, version specific issue it seems? But I really need to use version 2.02.05 though
I understand. Unfortunately, as this is not an issue with the .deb
rather that the required dependencies are not longer supported we will not be able to resolve the issue. I am sorry.
An option may be running a VM with an older Linux version when you need to use FMOD. Any minor version is compatible within a major version, so opening the older project in the updated version (2.02.24) should not be an issue. Please create back ups before doing so.
What is the reason that you cannot update the a more recent version of FMOD? Maybe I can assist in the updating process?
