ok, this may sound dumb and entirely unnecessary, but i promise i’ll provide a possible use case for this rather long thread title, so please bear with me.
i have ~10 existing asset files, (e.g. 10 files), all sharing the same length (e.g. 2-3 min). when i create an event, i make new audio tracks from an event that will accommodate these files. however, these files may have varying channel counts between them.
file 1 is stereo, file 2 is mono, file 3 is stereo, file 4 is left+right+center, file 5 is mono, you get the idea.
the one thing i would like to do here is to “implement” a kind of channel speaker layout from each track in any given event however i see fit.
track 1 represents file 2. i want to assign “front-left+front-right” channel speaker tags to this track even if it’s all unnecessary.
track 4 represents file 4. assign “front-left+front-right+front-center” channel speaker tags to this track.
track 2 represents file 2. assign “LFE” channel speaker tag to this track. and so on and so forth.
channel speaker tags should come from a combination of various tags, all representing a given channel speaker. like “front left”, “rear left”, “LFE”, etc. perhaps some existing tags for the overhead and floor channels, or maybe even entire tags consisting of entire channel speaker layouts even (7.1.5.4, 9.1.6, etc.), all combined from existing channel speaker tags.
as for “throughout the Project”, i’m referring to setting one of the three options of the exact channel speaker layouts available on your project.
let me know what y’all think.
