FMOD 2.03.12 Crashes Upon Starting

FMOD 2.03.12 crashes every time I open it, no matter where its opened from. If I try to open it from Unity, the loading window gets stuck at 99% or 100%, and if I try to open it externally from my start menu, nothing happens and the process sits at 0% CPU usage in task manager.

I’ve seen another post that talked about having the same issue where the solution was to change the location of the plugins folder in local appdata in some way, but not only do I not have any FMOD plugins in the first place, when I move the folder to another place another one is created upon me attempting to load FMOD again.

I don’t have an option to launch FMOD in safe mode because the app never starts. I’ve tried reinstalling FMOD like 3 separate times and it does nothing. Restarting my computer does nothing, and running as administrator does nothing. This is incredibly frustrating

I haven’t tried, since 2.03.12 is the only version relevant to and necessary for the projects I’m working on at the moment

Could I please grab the most recent log files from: AppData\Local\FMOD Studio\Logs?

A lot of my logs are completely blank, and I think that may be the difference between attempting to open FMOD on its own vs from a project file. I can’t upload text files as a new user but here’s a couple from last night. From the ones I’ve looked at, my logs seem to be mostly identical.

Would it be possible, rather than installing FMOD, extracting the fmodstudio20312win64-installer.exe and then running FMOD Studio.exe directly.

You could try deleting the Plugins folder in the extracted installer as well.

Your suggestions seem to have worked for the first few times I’ve tried. At least side-by-side, at the moment I’m not able to open the one I have properly installed in Program Files, and the extracted version works.

I have that version in my documents folder, so maybe it’s a permissions issue, somehow? But launching the Program Files version as administrator also fails, so I have no idea what the core problem is.

I will update if this fails to continue to work in the near future!
