FMOD asset compression overrides for different platforms

Hey, just wondering if there is a way to change multiple individual asset compression settings for different platforms?

The answer is yes. I’m not sure whether you’re asking whether it’s possible to change the compression settings for multiple assets at a time, or whether it’d possible to set asset compression settings differently for different platforms - but the answer is “yes” either way.

The easiest way to edit the encoding and compression settings of multiple assets at a time is to use folders. Compression and encoding settings can be set for any folder displayed in the assets browser; these settings are applied to everything in that folder that does not have its own encoding and compression settings. This means that you can use folders to specify default encoding and compression settings for everything in that folder, and then override those settings for specific assets within the folder by specifying different compression and encoding settings for those specific assets.

As for setting compression settings on a platform-specific basis, all asset compression and encoding settings displayed in the assets browser are specific to the platform displayed in the “platform” dropdown, which is located between the live update indicator and the “locale” dropdown menu in the bottom-right corners of every FMOD Studio window. If you change the platform displayed in this drop down, the assets browser will change to display the compression settings for the chosen platform, whatever they might be. Editing the compression settings of an asset or folder in the assets browser only edits them for the currently-selected platform, and has no effect on other platforms.
