Internal error from FMOD sub-system - High Audio Quality Support

Greetings FMOD Team,

I’m encountering a problem while exporting banks in FMOD Studio — I receive the subsequent error message:

“FMOD Sub-System encountered an internal error.”

Through my testing, I discovered that this occurs solely with high-resolution WAV files encoded at 32-bit / 192000 Hz. Standard 16-bit or 24-bit files at 48 kHz export smoothly without issues.

I recognize that FMOD is designed for real-time efficiency, however, I’m engaged in a project where I want to maintain high-resolution audio quality (for cinematic or non-realtime purposes). Could FMOD potentially include support for 32-bit float WAV files at increased sample rates, or at the very least enable their import and automatic conversion during the build process?

Kindly inform me if this is a recognized limitation or if there are any alternatives accessible.

I appreciate your time and help

Hi,

Thank you for sharing the information!

At the moment, there’s no known limitation regarding 32-bit float / 192 kHz WAV files, at least not that we’re aware of.

In my own test, I was able to import a 32-bit float / 192 kHz WAV, build the banks, and play the new event successfully in Unity without errors.

To help us investigate further, could you please let us know the exact version number of FMOD Studio you’re using? And if possible, could you also share the audio file that triggers the “FMOD Sub-System encountered an internal error,” so I can try reproducing it on my end?

You can upload it to your profile.
