Loop on single sound module?

(Steve) #1

Hello!

I wondered why a single sound has the option to be set to loop on the deck but when enabled it does not loop ? What is this useful for and what’s the difference between that and the loop region option? I am bit confused here if it was a bug or me not understanding the correct behaviour. I use Fmod studio version 1.09.04 - and added a screenshot.

Thanks!

Looping means different things for asynchronous and synchronous sound modules.

An synchronous sound module, such as the single sound module in your screenshot, loops by allowing the waveform to be repeated when the sound module’s trigger region is extended. You can see this by clicking and dragging the right edge of the trigger region (the blue box) to the right, then turning loop mode on and off.

Thanks Joseph, I understand how it works now.

I tried to find more detailed information on the fmod studio manual but there was nothing explaining the asynchronous with looping fonctions maybe it could be added? Unless the manual I have is too old!

The currently available version of the FMOD Studio user manual is somewhat out of date. We’re working on a major overhaul and re-write that’ll include a lot of improved and updated content, and will release it in stages over a series of upcoming releases. If you want to be notified when it is released, you can subscribe to our newsletter by giving us your e-mail address here: http://www.fmod.org/download/
