I’m using the sandbox to trigger live sounds, and when I reload the project, none of them seem to play anymore. Was working ok on my desktop I thought.
I can get them to work if I re-drag the events in… but saving, closing, and re-opening the project has all sandbox events refusing to trigger. Would love some help on this if possible.
I’m afraid I haven’t been able to reproduce this issue when I test here. I must be doing something differently to you.
What version of FMOD Studio are you running when you experience this issue? Could you describe in detail how you’re attempting to start playing event instances that are already in the sandbox scene when you load the project?
Long time no chat! I’m testing the same project, in a later version of FMOD (2.02.13) and seem to be able to reproduce it every time. If I copy any event from my main project into a new project… drag it into the sandbox, it plays just fine. If I close and re-open that project and go to the sandbox… the events won’t play. I can try the icons, the play buttons on the side… no dice. Yet if I re-drag the same event into the sandbox, it behaves normally.
Ok that was weird. I was about to give up hope and started randomly double clicking things… when I double clicked the Sandbox scene name, as if to rename it, then clicked out of it… all events seem to start working. I’ll try with my original (more complex) project and see if the behaviour is the same…
…
HAH!!! It worked!! I suspect some kind of bug in there… but if this method helps anyone else, that’s great.
Aha! By loading a project in version 2.02.13, I was able to reproduce the issue. That explains why I wasn’t able to reproduce it earlier - this bug was fixed in FMOD Studio version 2.02.25.
If you would prefer not to upgrade to a more recent version of FMOD Studio, the workaround you’ve already discovered will work - though, it isn’t necessary to rename the scene; simply deselecting and reselecting it will work.
In any case, I’m glad to hear you were able to get it working.
