FMOD 2.02 integration with Reaper 7 fails (subprojects)

  • I am using a central .rpp project as a hub for all the finished SFX files, whereas each SFX itself is housed within a subproject.
  • The central reaper project is linked to FMOD and the render files directory is selected correctly
  • Nothing else automatically saves into the render directory except when I render the SFX out
  • Upon refreshing the FMOD list, it doesn’t import any new files while reaper is running, claiming it failed to import due to a crash (see picture); it works fine when I close reaper first, but that kinda defeats the purpose of having automatic integration
  • this only happens when the reaper project is linked to subprojects (again, I can’t really import each individual subproject, because at that point I might as well import the files manually into FMOD)

Hi,

There’s currently a known issue specifically with Reaper’s command line interface (which FMOD Studio uses to integrate with Reaper projects) where the usage of some VSTs causes the render process to crash. While we have reported this crash on to Cockos on their official forums, this is unfortunately not an issue we can address. There are a few workarounds listed in the known issue post, but you can also try using VST2 versions of any VST3 plugins, and disabling the offending plugins after bouncing audio in place.

To confirm that this is in fact the issue you’re running into, I’d recommend trying to use the Reaper CLI with the -renderproject argument to render your central Reaper project and see whether you get the same issue.

hello,

thank you for your answer, yes, this seems to be it. It crashes with the sub-projects, because they do indeed have Kontakt 7 (full version) on some of their tracks. It seems it crashes also if the instances are offline (and, naturally, does crash as well if they’re just disabled).

it seems I will have to keep importing assets manually then on this project. Thank you for clarifying
