OPUS bank encoding on PS5

We have upgraded to newest FMOD Studio version. I can see that PS5 bank builder now supports OPUS codec. It still stands that suitable codec for PS5 “big” games is AT9 because of dedicated HW decoding? I thought I’d ask first before testing and seeing that perhaps we could save some RAM but on the other hand CPU will go through the roof as we’re playing ~24 voices at the same time…

Our recommendation is to use OPUS as it should provide better quality and compression, but AT9 is still suitable. Both formats decode in hardware and offer hardware resampling, so from an FMOD standpoint performance should be very similar. If you require hardware performance info, I would recommend taking a look at Sony’s SDK Release Information.
