[REAPER] DAW Integration not updating assets and crashing

Hello,

Whenever I refresh the linked assets it results in:

Failed to render DAW project. Error: Process crashed.

Windows event viewer didn’t divulge much information from what I can tell (but I’ve included those reports attached below).

After some testing, the culprits seem to be due to the following UserPlugins…

reaper_sws-x64.dll
(the SWS/S&M extension))
reaper_kontrol.dll
(for controlling reaper with NI Komplete Kontrol MIDI devices)
When the SWS DLL is removed (despite a crash error still occurring due to reaper_kontrol), modified assets of the linked reaper project are updated when refreshed. If both DLLs are removed the integration seems to work without issue.

Are there any ways to fix this currently? Otherwise, please investigate this issue for the next Studio version.
I could manage without ReaKontrol, but SWS is an essential part of my, and many others’, workflow.

Hi,

Thanks for the report. This is a known bug with some VSTs and plugins in Reaper that the development team is looking into, and I’ve passed your report along to them. Unfortunately, I cannot offer a workaround at present - in the case where the crash is happening with a generator VST, bouncing to audio and disabling the VST can work, but for something as complex as SWS/S&M, I am not sure how helpful it will be.
